The Kitchen Store
Kitchen design in Guildford
Good kitchen design in Guildford has very little to do with picking doors. It starts with how your household actually runs: who cooks, when everyone lands in the room, what always ends up on the worktop. Our designers work from the Chertsey Street showroom, and the first consultation is free, whether you arrive with measured plans or a rough idea and a few photos on your phone.
How we design your kitchen
Every project starts with a free consultation, at the showroom or over a video call if that is easier. Expect to be asked a lot of questions. That part is deliberate, because the gap between a nice kitchen and the right one is almost always in the detail of how you use it.
From there your designer develops the layout and specification with you, moving from first concept to a fully priced design, then stays with the project through to the finished installation.
Betty leads much of our design work here. She pairs strong technical knowledge with a calm, practical manner, and has a sharp eye for the details that make a room work day to day. Mark, our Head of Retail, heads up the design team and knows our German and British ranges inside out. Whoever you start with stays your designer to completion.
Design styles for Surrey home
Small and compact kitchens
Guildford has plenty of town-centre flats where the kitchen has to work hard in very little space. This is where planning earns its money: full-height storage, corner fittings that genuinely reach the back, and layouts that find you more usable worktop than the room looked like it had.
Modern and minimalist
Clean lines, handleless doors, surfaces that stay calm when the house does not. If this is your direction, start with our German kitchens and the True Handleless and Modern Clean Lines ranges.
Bespoke and full renovation design
Some projects go well past the kitchen. Andy and Lauren's Guildford build took in the kitchen, pantry and boot room as one continuous design, which is a good illustration of what bespoke actually means here: designed around your space and your routine rather than adapted from something that already existed.
Recent design projects near Guildford
Andy and Lauren's contemporary Lodge Blackened Oak kitchen in Guildford came out of a complete house build, and the brief was cohesion across three connected rooms.
A spacious barn conversion in Surrey using the Masterclass Marlborough range shows the opposite challenge, a large characterful space that needed anchoring rather than filling.
And an earthy, light Masterclass Melrose kitchen, also in Surrey, is the quieter end of what we do. Three houses with almost nothing in common, which is rather the point of designing each one from scratch.
Start at our Guildford showroom
Design conversations go better when you can point at things. Our Guildford showroom is our newest, at 8 Chertsey Street in the town centre, with life-sized displays from our Masterclass, Nolte and nolteNEO ranges, a working kitchen, and hundreds of door styles, worktops and handles to react to. Public parking is around two minutes away. We are open Monday to Saturday, with consultations outside those hours by appointment.

German kitchen questions, answered

It starts with a free consultation at our Guildford showroom or by video call. Your designer learns how you live and cook, develops the layout and specification with you, and stays involved right through to installation.
-
No, design consultations are free with no obligation. Book a time at the Chertsey Street showroom and bring measurements or plans if you have them, though we can work from scratch too.
-
Betty, an experienced kitchen designer with a background in high-end interiors, and Mark, our Head of Retail and a specialist in our German and British products. Both work with you from first ideas to final fit.
-
Yes. We plan the complete space, including layout, appliances, worktops and storage, and our project management covers the installation stage. Andy and Lauren's Guildford project covered kitchen, pantry and boot room as one cohesive design.

That is what the showroom is for. Browse life-sized displays across modern and classic styles, try the working appliances, and your designer will help you narrow it down at your own pace with no pressure.
