How to save £10,000 on a kitchen

YOU KNOW THE KITCHEN YOU WANT, BUT IT’S SLIGHTLY OUT OF REACH.

If this is you, then we’ve got some good news.

Because a finished kitchen is made up of multiple components, many design aspects and product choices can affect the cost.

So how can you get the beautiful kitchen style you’ve imagined for so long without having to exceed your budget or compromise on quality?  Even small, simple changes can create the best quality kitchen design you’ve imagined, without exceeding your budget.

For example, take a look at these true-to-life kitchen illustrations. The first is our Masterclass Hardwick kitchen, which is worth £31,000 investment.

But with a few changes using different kitchen styles and appliance choices, you can create something spectacular for nearly ten thousand pounds less, like this:

How do you do it?

 1. Change your door choice

Instead of the solid timber doors, we have used the Masterclass Hatfield, a painted effect wood grain style. It’s available in the same colours outside (Dust Grey) and inside (Portland Oak). The bar handles are exactly the same.

Whilst we love The Hathaway Pantry (seen here next to the fridge) for all its custom-built shelving and drawer configurations, we have opted for a standard shelved larder to save money. Other savings have been made by changing drawers to cabinets on the island. We’ve also removed cornices and lighting pelmets at the top of the cupboards.

2. Change your worktop

We’ve chosen a Cimstone kitchen worktop rather than Caesarstone. To the untrained eye, there’s barely any difference in the appearance of these two engineered quartz brands.

The Cimstone kitchen worktop finish offers further savings. For example, the White Attica worktop on the £30k kitchen is a marble effect, whereas the Arcadia provides a less detailed, yet still beautiful, speckled surface.

3. Review your appliances

Here’s a simple trick. Choose lower-priced options for your integrated kitchen appliances hidden behind doors.

You can go one step further and make different choices for other kitchen appliances, too. Caple appliances offer style, functionality, and value and we’ve used them in this £20k kitchen worth. If you can afford more, consider AEG like the £30k choice. Neff, Siemens, and Miele offer luxury alternatives.

Choosing a sink and tap from Caple rather than Blanco will also save you a few pounds.

4. Look at lighting

You can take out surface mounted and below & inside cabinet lights for a lower-priced option.

If you make all these changes, you’ll turn a kitchen worth over £30,000 into a little over £20,000 and still get the best quality kitchen.

And that’s with all your cabinetry, appliances, sink and taps, surfaces AND your installation included.

Here’s what you won’t compromise on…

●      A beautifully crafted Masterclass kitchen with all its built-in luxury and style

●      You can still enjoy showing off an Elica downdraft extractor hob in both examples and make it a real feature in your kitchen.

●      Floating wall shelves in solid timber

●      Pull-out integrated 70L bin

●      120cm deep island with seating

●      30cm splashback matching the worksurfaces (which are both Quartz)
