Case study

A striking open-plan kitchen in Guildford.

When Andy and Lauren embarked on a complete house build and renovation in Guildford, they had a clear vision: a home with a cohesive design aesthetic that felt both bold and refined. The Kitchen Store was commissioned to design and install the kitchen, pantry, and utility areas — three interconnected spaces forming the functional and visual heart of the home.

The main kitchen showcases the nolteNEO range, combining Lodge Blackened Oak cabinetry with a contrasting island in Soft Lack Magma, all on Quartz Grey cabinet internals. The design makes a statement through its rich textures, strong lines, and beautifully considered details.

Frequently asked questions about our Guildford showroom

  • The Kitchen Store has been designing and installing exceptional kitchens across Sussex and Surrey for over 20 years. It holds FIRA Gold Installation Certification — one of only 13 companies in the UK and the only independent retailer in Sussex to do so. A proud member of the Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman with a 4.8 star Google rating across more than 200 reviews, the business is privately owned and independent, offering a level of personal service that is hard to find elsewhere.

  • Experience matters enormously in kitchen design and installation. As a rule of thumb, look for a company with at least a decade of trading behind them — better still, one whose reputation in the local area is well established and independently verified through reviews, accreditations, and word of mouth.

  • A great kitchen designer combines formal training with real-world experience. Relevant qualifications include degrees in interior design, furniture design or spatial planning. Industry-specific training from bodies such as FIRA is a strong indicator of professional standards. Beyond qualifications, look for a demonstrable portfolio of completed projects, knowledge of leading brands, and the ability to guide you confidently through materials, layouts and finishes. At The Kitchen Store, designers bring together formal expertise and years of hands-on experience.
